We decorated Payton’s Cubbies bag with some puffy paint. I helped with the letters but he did the rest. I don’t know about you, but I think it’s genius (particularly the red blob above his name).

Heard around the house

We’ve had snow, LOTS of snow. It started Tuesday and hasn’t really let up. We don’t expect it to be around much longer but I, for one, have loved every minute of it. Perhaps it’s because we could still drive in the stuff and get the kids over to Melody’s so I could sit in my awesome new office upstairs looking outside at the snow fall, drinking coffee, in my warm comfy clothes (and sort of working). Payton has loved it too! He’s made snow ice cream, sledded to his hearts content, made countless snow angels, and filled his dump truck up a bagillion times with snow.

With the extra time I’ve been able to spend with P, he’s said some pretty funny things this week:

Ugh! I can’t stand those weeds in my juice! (he means the pulp in his OJ)
But Mom, I WANT my teeth to fall out (his response to me nagging him to brush his teeth)
But if I fall asleep the snow will be gone when I wake up! (fighting nap time)
Mom, change her change her! (if he noticed Kendall has a poopy diaper)
Mom, close the door, I’m thinking! (what he says now when he has to poop)

Love that kid! (and still love the snow). More please!

Well, we got dumped on today. Several inches of snow but the kids went to Melody’s today anyways because it’s all flat roads and we have great snow cars.

The First Snow of 2012

Well, we got snow today! Granted, it was only 1/2 an inch but STILL…it was fun to watch it fall and see Payton get super excited. Kendall couldn’t have cared less but we’ll work on her. Ryan took Payton up to Burnt Hill to go sledding while I stayed home sick with K and Winnie. The forecast has snow in it for the next couple days so hopefully we’ll get something substantial tomorrow.

Rooster Williamson?

As I have mentioned before, every night before Payton falls asleep, I have to tell him a story about when I was a small girl.

Last night I told him a story about when I decided I didn’t like the name Shannon and wanted to change it. When I finished the story, I asked Payton if he liked his name. He thought about it for a second and said No. I asked him what he wishes his name was and, without hesitation, he said ‘Rooster.’ I said, ‘Rooster Williamson? Really? Is it because you miss our Rooster?’ ‘Nope’, he said. ‘I just like the name Rooster.’

Rooster Alexander Williamson. I think it has a nice ring to it, don’t you? LOL

Hurricane Ridge

One of the many reasons I love living on the Peninsula is that you truly are close to the water, the mountains, the woods….and you don’t have to sit in traffic to get there! Ryan had a wild hair to get the kids out of the house on an adventure so we packed the car and took the kids plus Brenda to Hurricane Ridge which takes an hour from point to point to get there but most of the driving is up the mountain which was absolutely gorgeous. We saw deer and snow machines (P’s favorite) and lots and lots of snow.

Kendall wasn’t having the cold so we took turns hanging out with her in the lodge…

while Payton went sledding outside. …

and checked out the snow machine…

It’s sure a lot of work to get everyone out the door, but it’s always worth it in the end.

Apparently Kendall took one step towards Dennis when she was at the Ackley’s house yesterday. Ah, the joys of being a working parent…missing their firsts!

I’m going to pretend it didn’t happen and work on her this weekend.
